The Vice President, Meetings & Events is part of the Global Operations (GO) I US + Canada F+B team, which is known for taking ideas into implementation across all brands, disciplines, and continents. The Vice President, Meetings & Events provides strategic leadership to drive results for programs and initiatives within both Global Operations and the US + Canada continent. This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Global Operations, Food & Beverage (F+B) and will manage a team of direct reports, who assess high impact strategic product and service opportunity areas for growth or optimization. Responsibilities include leading the development of the business case, vision and strategy for investment and global execution of compelling customer driven and profitable solutions across brands and continents.

This leader serves as an expert to lead product and service design and programming. This position articulates product and service opportunities through synthesis of research and ideation for both Managed and Franchised properties. This position provides strategic input and direction of core guest experience proof points in both short- and long-term projects, taking them from conceptualization, through project charter, proof-of-concept, build, pilot, and deployment. This role also oversees the evaluation of the proof of concepts globally, and marshals resources necessary to ensure effective execution of experience proof points in market. They provide a clear direction of what the GO team will design and develop.

Key accountabilities include: represents Brand, Portfolio or Continent strategy to the Global Operations teams, Continent leaders, Corporate leadership and individual project teams; provides local/continent perspective back to Headquarters team, monitoring local, regional and global trends and competition to ensure global strategy aligns to local consumer and operational differences; acts as project management lead on guest experience projects to ensure necessary project resources are secured for the project; coordinates the prioritization, launch, and project management approach (e.g., agile vs. waterfall processes); serves as liaison with other stakeholders (e.g., owner and franchise services) to ensure projects meet their specific needs or operating parameters; participation in annual strategy meetings and liaising stakeholder teams to ensure proposed work aligns to long term consumer positioning.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • 10+ years of business management leadership experience, operations, or related professional area.
  • Direct management of complex budgets in excess of $12M direct and indirect costs
  • Direct experience leading teams to identify and frame opportunities
  • Direct experience managing cross functional project teams within the F+B and meeting and event spaces
  • 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Culinary Science, or related major

Preferred:

  • Ability to coach and develop design teams, teaching about the business and building an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Deep understanding of and ability to manage to corporate financial practices and goals, including drivers of process costs
  • Solid track record of advancing business direction and strategies and for delivering results
  • Ability to articulate new concepts clearly and in a compelling way
  • Owner and Franchisee relationships
  • Graduate/post graduate degree
  • International work experience (non-US)
  • Event Operations Management and/or Group Sales Management
  • Strong negotiating, influencing and problem resolution skills
  • Hotel Operations leadership
  • Understanding of product-centric, innovation, design, and user experience
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of business environment, service requirements, and culture
  • Experience introducing and implementing cutting edge ideas; conception through final delivery
  • Understanding of Food + Beverage discipline and specific F+B meeting and event trends and applications
  • Knowledge of competitive landscape and must be able to remain current with industry trends & connected in discipline-related forums
