Vehicle Protection- R & D Engineer

The Vehicle Protection R&D Engineer will be responsible for conducting research and developing new technologies to improve our products and processes. Their duties include researching new materials, testing, studying new inventions/ideas, new product development, and processes involved in developing innovative armor solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage budgets for R&D efforts
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Conducting market research
• Research, evaluate, and select potential suppliers and vendors
• Develop innovative armor solutions and understand ballistic test requirements
• Support internal teams to ensure smooth transitions from design concept to production
• Develop and review test plans
• Research and develop new materials, instruments, and equipment
• Collaborating with the engineering and sales department on product feasibility
• Analyze, interpret, and create technical specifications, drawings, and diagrams
• Design, develop, research, test, analyze, and evaluate new and modified products, processes, and services to meet our customer requirements
• Provide technical expertise and consultation to customers and suppliers

Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Material Science, Chemistry, or related field)
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft, CAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
• Proven knowledge and experience in conducting research, designing product solutions, and presenting findings in both written or presentation form
• Mechanical aptitude (building prototype, tooling, etc. with limited direction)
• Proficient technical writing skills
• Self-sufficient and able to adapt to changing priorities
• 5+ years of experience as an R&D engineer or similar preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Manufacturing knowledge/experience with composites preferred
