Job Description

SUMMARY

As a part of our digital strategy, we are focused on creating intuitive, well-designed, high value digital experiences that respond to the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders. The User Experience (UX) Designer is a vital position to the team working with Pella Corporation’s internal products and customer-facing websites. As a User Experience Designer, you will be responsible for producing UX and design deliverables for Pella Corporation’s digital experience. The ideal candidate will have a creative, strategic, and analytical mindset to match user goals to business requirements. In addition, you will be expected to use data to produce insights and recommendations for a better user experience. This position requires cross-functional collaboration, an aptitude to learn, and the ability to work independently. In addition, the right candidate must be a self-motivated initiative taker.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define information architecture updates for Pella’s internal properties
  • You will be the owner of the development of great user experience for our internal customers and have an end to end ownership of the internal tools product design
  • Create wireframes, user flows, and other UX deliverables as needed
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Lead user experience projects based on business goals and analytical insights
  • Design UI elements and define interaction design for internal properties
  • Utilize and contribute to Pella’s UX and UI libraries
  • Work with the design, development, program management and business segment teams to ensure business goals translate to best-in-class user experiences
  • Ability to focus as much on communication and facilitation skills as you do on design capabilities to explain the logic behind their functional and visual choices
  • Conduct and participate in user research with direct access to internal users
  • Partner with the analytics team to coordinate user experience, optimization and personalization tests, incorporating the learnings into the design efforts
  • Serve as brand steward ensuring consistent user and brand experience leveraging style guides, best practices and standards
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest capabilities of browsers, mobile phones (both iOS and Android) and trends in the UX design community
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid portfolio of web and mobile interface designs with your role on each clearly defined
  • Proficient in Figma
  • A strong curiosity and interest in solving complex problems
  • Demonstrated adherence to a digital creative process and the time and resources required to produce quality work on time and within specifications of the project
  • Exceptional design and concept development skills, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate ideas through wireframes, user flows, mockups, briefs, sketches, etc.
  • Ability to quickly experiment, test and iterate user interface concepts
  • Experience working with graphic designers and developers to see your vision through execution
  • Ability to multitask projects with competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Experience with creating prototypes with Figma or equivalent.
  • Experience leading and/or facilitating usability studies and focus groups
  • Experience using online, remote user testing tools
  • Working knowledge of HTML/JS/CSS is a plus!
  • Working knowledge of A/B optimization testing

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of experience in product, web, mobile, and/or graphic design
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in agile team environments

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, clients, customers.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations and ability to transfer and apply the concepts and techniques covered in a practical business situation.


MATHEMATICAL SKILL

Understands and can apply mathematical concepts to summarize and analyze sets of data. Is capable of calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, averages, medians and other basic statistical formulas. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems. Possesses and uses both a structured and an intuitive approach to problem solving.

Ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to recognize and investigate inconsistent data sets.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Strong analytical skills are necessary.

Excel, Word, Power Point experience required.
