Used Vehicle Buyer
Used Vehicle Buyers are responsible for obtaining phenomenal used-car inventory through appraisals and by attending off-site auctions. A Buyer coordinates wholesale auctions, attends off-site auctions, and appraises vehicles at the store. Buyers negotiate pricing, understand vehicle condition and the subsequent costs involved in reconditioning, and make financially sound purchasing decisions for the company. This includes working with our Technicians to determine reconditioning costs and determining retail values and working with other departments to create strong customer experiences.
The Used Vehicle Buyer reports to the Group Leader, General Manager and General Sales Manager.
Responsibilities
- Effectively utilize lead management tools.
- Understand market tendencies and the changes to the trends in all geographic areas.
- Requires working in a fast-paced team environment, being effective as a self-starter and working individually as needs dictate
- Responsible for all faces of acquiring a used-car inventory through, direct contacts, generated leads, off site auctions, dealers, internet inquiries from customers or any other available avenues
- Develop effective working relationships with the all purchasing venues to accelerate the placement of ideal inventory in an expeditious and cost-effective manner.
- Appraise vehicles, understand vehicle condition, negotiate price, make financially sound purchasing decisions, and insures timely processing of all purchases
- Deliver a premium customer experience by responding to customer inquiries in a prompt, professional, accurate and courteous manner. This highly accountable position uses lead management tools
- Compile all necessary reports, forms and other documentation on a timely basis
- Meet car buying quotas
- Required to be the expert in all aspects of the purchasing, shipping, selling and stocking vehicles
- Generate leads and create appointments by researching the available used car market
- Responsible for understanding retail trends and participating in the inventory planning process
