The Federal Planning group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented planner for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office. The project planner will serve on multi-disciplinary planning projects for mainly military installations and federal agencies as well as urban, community, and environmental projects. As part of the project team, the planner will develop creative and innovation solutions to address clients’ issues. The project planner will:

Compile data and conduct research in support of project delivery

  • Produce material for project meetings and workshops
  • Participate in on-site workshops in support role
  • Communicate effectively with project team and manager
  • Create graphics to support the planning documents
  • Play a key role in the preparation of plans
  • Write sections of planning reports and documents

AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, business transformation, asset advisory, economics and development planning, master planning, urban planning, and landscape architecture. With a range of expertise from strategy and design through project realization, we create better outcomes to grow economies, protect natural systems, conserve natural resources, make societies more equitable, and connect and engage people through innovative, sustainable design solutions. Qualifications


Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • BA/BS in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field of study

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Apt at developing creative and innovative graphics and project layout
  • Efficient and organized worker with a high level of attention to detail
  • AICP certification (or certification track) preferred
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities
  • Proficient with ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Indesign and Illustrator
  • LEED certification (or certification track) preferred
  • Exceptional writing, research, analysis, and communication skills
  • Master’s degree in urban and regional planning or related field
  • Positive outlook and can-do attitude approach to tasks and teamwork
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Sketchup Pro, and Adobe Photoshop
  • Follows guidance well with little oversight
