What Role You Will Play In Our Team


Our client, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited, an ExxonMobil affiliate, has a vacancy for Upstream Engineer.


Seeking engineering applicants to support upstream operations in Guyana. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to support world-class offshore operations including FPSOs, deepwater drillships, subsea projects and much more – all while working alongside one of the most talented workforces in the industry.

  • Projects Engineer
  • Subsea Engineer


What You Will Do
  • Capture potential improvement opportunities that can have a positive impact on safety or efficiency
  • Technical support to Safety, Security, Health, and Environment to support company’s policies and procedures
  • Lead initiatives for lessons learned capture and continuous improvement
  • Provide on-site (offshore) support to ongoing operations (position dependent)
  • Liaise with contractors and vendors in reviewing and evaluating technical information
  • Provide ongoing surveillance for day-to-day operations
  • Track and reconcile costs identifying opportunities for greater efficiency
  • Technical support to troubleshoot and correct operations and equipment performance issues
  • Work closely with engineering and operations peers to implement required changes in practices / procedures
  • Identify and manage risks associated operations and recommend / progress improvement initiatives / corrective actions
  • Reviews and provides cost efficiency recommendations to the operations and maintenance teams for contract change order requests.
  • Obtain all required permits and regulatory approvals
  • Supports the budget development process including the creation of the OPEX budget for the operations team and develop stewardship initiatives that identify potential budget over-runs and promote adherence to cost targets.
  • Provide overall project cost, schedule, estimating, progress measurement, and change management expertise
  • Serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for oversight and stewardship of the approved budget supporting the operations team.
  • Analysis of data to diagnose or predict potential operational challenges
  • Prepare and revise operations execution procedures
  • Supports ongoing monitoring and appraising the performance of the Contractor(s) in the areas of cost/schedule analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and Change Management.
  • Ensure compliance with business controls
  • Serve as the engineering contact supporting ongoing Wells, Production, and Subsea operations
  • Completes technical review of change order requests and validates the cost build-up to progress approvals.


About You


Skills and Qualifications


  • Self-directed with the ability to recognize/pursue solutions required to solve problems
  • University degree in Engineering
  • Good interpersonal skills and effective organizational skills good attention to detail, completeness, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to lead and facilitate meetings and group discussions good public speaking skills


Preferred Qualifications / Experience


  • Willingness to travel to offshore locations on a regular basis (e.g., drilling rigs, FPSOs)
  • Excellent communications (oral & written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Technical experience in Oil and Gas or heavy industry is advantageous
