We’re currently growing our team of Artisans with an Upstream Boiler Technician. This role is responsible for service and repair activities on natural gas and light oil-fired industrial heat process equipment and boilers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • For offshore and onshore projects, perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of Boiler systems and related equipment and facilities; perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
  • Strong understanding of Combustion setting for oil and gas boilers.
  • Operate and maintain steam boilers or hot water generators and associated equipment, including compressors, cooling towers, pumps, fans.
  • Troubleshoot and repair commercial Boiler systems to including, oil- and gas-fired boilers and control systems.
  • Open and close boilers for inspections
  • Knowledge of performing preventive maintenance on all types and brands of boilers.
  • Logging and recording temps, amps, and voltage on boilers systems.
  • Start up and setting combustion.
  • Cleaning of boiler tubes
  • Checking and cleaning of all safeties on the boilers
  • Assists Operations Specialists in conducting field service calls to perform start-ups, troubleshooting, or other service-related activities
  • Maintains strong customer relationships
  • Maintains maximum boiler efficiency by adjusting, reading, and interpreting gauges, indicators, and steam flow meters
  • Support the team in an operations technician capacity when not working with boilers.
  • Assist customers determine the nature of boiler specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and provide engineering support
  • Perform independent start-up of boilers and related equipment up to 1,000 HP (34,000 pph).

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 2 years of related advanced schooling or equivalent
  • Experience on boiler fire control systems and understand all aspects of boiler safety and operation
  • At least 2 years of experience performing boiler testing, maintenance, and service

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The Company requires passing a pre-employment physical in which an objective medical professional will determine whether you can safely meet the physical demands of the position.

Duration of Workhours During Project Executions:

  • Day shift and/or night shift.
  • Typically, 12 continuous hours that may extend up to 16 hours if an emergent need exists, for up to 14 days in a row.

Working Conditions During Project Executions:

  • Outside locations in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, and other forms of inclement weather.
  • Environments that may necessitate the use of respiratory protection for the shift duration.
  • Uneven or unstable ground, and wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings.
  • Routine, intermittent exposure to noise more than 85 dBA-TWA.
  • Working environment will include offshore platforms and onshore locations.
  • Medical clearance to use respiratory protection is required.
  • Half-face, full-face, and/or supplied air
  • Quantitative fit testing for specific respiratory protection is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting and carrying up to 40lbs., without assistance.
  • Work at heights up to 150 ft/ 45m accessed via stairs, climbing ladders, or critical lifts by cranes. This requires an ability to climb ladders and stairs without issue.
  • Standing and walking for up to 12 to 16 hours daily with minimal rest breaks. May exceed 10,000 to 15,000 steps per day.
  • Pushing / pulling up to 100 lbs., without assistance.
  • Bending and stooping repeatedly and performing task including twisting or turning valves and using wrenches and hand tools.

Travel Requirements

Ability to travel to outlying markets for supporting a growing list of clients across North America and International Markets and spend 100 – 120 nights per year away from home.
