Allied World is looking for a Public Directors & Officers underwriter to join the team in our Chicago office. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting and helping grow a complex book of business (industrials, bio-tech, high-tech, healthcare, real estate, etc.), while meeting profitability, revenue, and expense goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attend appropriate professional development training sessions.
• Attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicable.
• Provide specific reports as needed by senior staff.
• Underwrite Directors & Officers insurance for publicly traded companies.
• Evaluate risk related to ESG, network/cyber security and regulatory matters.
• Analyze the stock performance, business strategy, management team, corporate governance and financial statements of prospective insureds.
• Generate new business production on a monthly basis.
• Comply with underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures.
• Meet with key brokers regularly to discuss production, service, and other topics relevant to success.
• Assist with special projects as needed.
• Stay current with respect to major world, economic, business, and industry issues and developments.
• Work with Public D&O division management to craft terms and proposals to win business.
• Meet with members of the C-suite of prospective insureds (CEO, CFO, General Counsel, etc.);
• Involve other Allied World management, units or offices as necessary.
• Follow the stock market and capital markets in general.
• Market to existing brokers and develop new relationships.
• Present the Allied World story and Allied World products to brokers and other external and internal parties.
• Negotiate with the prospective insured’s broker to win deals while maintaining price/risk discipline and profitability.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Must be able to think originally, be willing to challenge ideas and be receptive to having their own ideas challenged.
• Willingness to travel.
• Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
• 4-year college degree required.
• Solid Writing and Communication Skills.
• 0-4 years underwriting experience (Public Directors & Officers experience is preferred).
