Department Overview
Position Summary
The Underpayment Recovery Analyst will play a key role in the Payer Contracting team by reviewing claim and payment information through the contract management and underpayment identification systems to identify potential individual underpayments and underpayment trends. This role is responsible for researching third party payor policies and understanding all contract terms and payment methodologies to verify accuracy of underpayment variances and for appropriately communicating with payers regarding contract compliance responsibilities, and resolving reimbursement discrepancies. This position often participates in special projects. The employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Location: Remote within Minnesota or Wisconsin
Education:
- Associate degree in healthcare, business or equivalent relevant revenue cycle experience
Experience:
- 3+ years' experience in healthcare revenue cycle billing office or payer/provider contracting department
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Solid knowledge of all MS Office Products
- Accepts feedback and changes behavior appropriately
- Approaches problems with an open mind and contributes to solutions
- Displays initiative to improve relative to job function
- Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in the face of changing demands
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to read and understand complex contract terms and the ability to communicate and/or resolve the deficiencies with both internal and external customers
- Knowledge of healthcare receivables
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and global thinking skills
- Ability to read, understand and apply payer contracts as it relates to expected reimbursement on a facility and professional claims
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
