The Undercarriage Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving servicing and repair of all types of mechanical, hydraulic and diesel-powered equipment, working both independently and on a team. On the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning will ensure that skills remain current. The Undercarriage Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to team work, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner.   • Experience in trouble-shooting and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment.
  • Maintain, diagnose and repair a variety of heavy equipment, such as Off-highway Trucks, Compactors, Dozers, Excavators, Wheel and Backhoe Loaders, Graders, Skid Steer Loaders and Telehandlers.
  • May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.
  • Experience with CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging and blocking equipment is preferred.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements


  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside (non-climate controlled) throughout the day.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to lift varied weight.
  • Shift work and/or weekends may be required.
  • Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.


This Inside Rental Coordinator serves as an inside sales person for the Cat Rental Store (CRS). This position handles transactions for customers over the phone and in person. The Rental Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing machine utilization within the designated trade area.

  • High school diploma required, college degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of “common” equipment failure problems and how to resolve them.

  • Update/call overdue list daily and alert supervisor of overdue contracts.
  • Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations, as well as store security and report safety violations to supervisor.
  • Compute charges based on rental or service rate.
  • Exposure to world-class CAT training and development.
  • Supports and builds strong relationships with co-workers to include Outside Sales Team and Product Support Staff.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar industry, equipment, basic mechanics, and the local market preferred.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks.

  • Must understand and be able to effectively communicate equipment applications and key performance specifications.
  • Strong understanding of usage and application of all rental equipment and services offered.
  • Explain rental fees and provide information about rented items, such as basic operation or description.

  • Collect deposit or payment or record credit charges by maintaining customer charge file daily and balancing daily sales receipts.

  • Keep current on knowledge of competitive pricing and trends.
  • Prepare rental forms and contracts; obtain customer signature and other information as required.

  • Previous rental experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge coupled with relevant work experience will be considered.

  • Ask questions about delivery conditions such as dock heights, narrow streets, etc.; notify customers immediately if there are any delivery delays.
