Truck/Tractor Trailer Driver-Water Reclamation

Responsibilities/Pay Grade JOB SUMMARY: PG H106 This position will be working in Water Reclamation.. Operates heavyweight trucks or tractor-trailers over the road, requiring a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT Endorsement. Required to perform strenuous labor incidental to the operation of the equipment. Reviews, understands and adheres to rules, regulations, and guidelines of the Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and ECUA's Human Resources Manual. Performs routine maintenance on and safety checks of assigned equipment. In the Water Reclamation Department, this position reports to Water Reclamation Plant Manager. In the Water Production Department, this position, reports to Water and SCADA Operations Manager ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Drives vehicles that require a Class A CDLto complete assigned duties and responsibilities. Performs minor/preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle/equipment. Performs strenuous labor incidental to the operation of equipment. Lifts, moves and carries bags of lime and/or hosesweighing 50 lbs. or more. Utilizesproper lifting techniques Maintains job and equipment records and completesroutine forms and records. Maintains chemical inventory records. Prepares daily chemical delivery schedules. Maintain current knowledge of chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Maintains truck and equipment in a safe and operable condition at all times by performing daily and periodic mechanical and safety inspections. Maintains regular communication with supervisor in order to report field problems and/or safety hazards. Maintains job and equipment records and completes applicable forms and records. All other duties as assigned.

• For Truck/Tractor Trailer Drivers assigned to Water Reclamation: Ability to maneuver 80,000 lb. tractor and tanker in remote areas at all hours. Haul waste sludge from outlying locations (Pensacola Beach, Bayou Marcus). Emergency and planned assistance at ECUA locations throughout service area for lift station and system repairs. General cleaning and maintenance of equipment as necessary. Operation of vehicles in and around composting facility. Perform pre-and post-trip inspections of equipment. Assist Regional Services, Engineering, and Lift Stations with collection system problems, maintenance, and preplanned projects. Delivers and unloads biosolids to composting facility and landfill. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. (Educational documentation will be requested upon offer of employment.) Two years of experience operating a Class A CDL designated truck and/or tractor-trailer. An ECUA administered driving test will be required.
• Licenses and Certifications: Requires possession of a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements must be obtained within 6 months of offer of employment, however, current possession of Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements is preferred. Forklift experience is preferred.
• Position in Water Reclamation is required to work 12-hour shifts, for example, employees working days, work from 6am - 6pm for approximately 2 weeks. The employees working nights work from noon to midnight for approximately 2 weeks. Position in Water Production will be working 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, but must be available for emergency call-outs as needed. Employment offers to all new hires are contingent upon the job candidates successfully passing background, motor vehicle and reference checks, drug screening, and post job offer physicals (that may include pulmonary testing). Physical Requirements/Working Environment While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to climb, stand, sit, or walk, use hands tohandle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Heavy liftingand/or moving up to 100 pounds utilizing proper lifting techniques is required on a regular basis throughout the workday while loading and unloading chemical bags/containers. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, work near moving mechanical parts, and toxic, acidic caustic chemicals. The incumbent's working conditions are typically loud when operating equipment. As a disaster team member, the employee is required to be available to work before, during, and after disaster as directed. • Position in Water Reclamation requires possession of a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with Tanker endorsement upon offer of employment. Possession of Hazmat endorsement is preferred.
