Truck Driver (Union/Temporary)

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Completes documents pertaining to pick up and delivery of cargo.
• Operates wrecker to retrieve and tow vehicles and equipment when required.
• Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintains DOT Logbook or other records as required.
• Tows heavy equipment.
• Checks items for correctness and obtains signature of receiver at destination.
• Schedules pickups and deliveries to conserve time and expense.
• Ensures safety of passengers, cargo and vehicle.
• Drives a variety of trucks, dump trucks, trailers, vans, low-bed trailers, tank trailers.
• Ensures that cargo is properly loaded and secured and that vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity.
• Assumes responsibility of cargo and accomplishes any tie downs as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• When working with a composite crew, such as the furniture moving crew, assists laborers in carrying, loading and unloading furniture and equipment.
• Keeps vehicle in clean condition, makes minor repairs, and reports needed major repairs.
• Operates special purpose vehicles as required.
• Adheres to all DOT rules and regulations.

Mandatory:

• Three (3) years driving experience working as a Truck Driver.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Must possess a valid state Class “A” Endorsement “X” driver license at all times.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain and maintain explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations.
• Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer network.
