DUTIES

The following job description is applicable to all Procurement warehousing and transportation facilities where work functions requiring a Commercial Drivers License are performed. Incumbents of this classification perform work under supervision with established procedures, specific objectives, and have latitude to accomplish tasks after assigned.

This classification includes the performance of work involved in the operating of light and heavy trucks of any size or purpose, including those which require a commercial drivers license to operate and performs related transportation and material handling duties as required.

Incumbent must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate any truck up to 26,000lb GVW.

Incumbent must have a Class B Commercial Drivers License to operate single vehicles with a GVW of 26,001lb or greater. This includes Dump Trucks, Flat Beds, Stake Body, Service Trucks and Van Body vehicles in the 2 to 6 ton range.

Incumbent must have a Class A Commercial Drivers License to operate trucks with trailers in access of 10,000lb with combination weight of greater than 26,001lb.

Incumbent must have a Class A or B CDL to operate any size vehicle which is placards for Hazardous Materials and the Haz Mat endorsement on the CDL.

Incumbent must have a Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement to haul liquids by tanker trailer such as oil or fuel.

Incumbent must be physically capable of passing the required S5 physical every three years.

Incumbent must willing participate in and pass the TVA Alcohol and Drug Random Testing Program.

This classification does not include trucks covered by the classification Truck Operator-Power System Maintenance.


QUALIFICATIONS

Must demonstrate the ability to safely and efficiently operate equipment consistent with the class of Commercial Drivers License required by the work assignment and other equipment (i.e. Forklifts and Material Handling Equipment).

Must demonstrate the ability to tie-down and secure various types of loads using chains, straps, and blocking materials onto flatbed, van, and low-boy type trailers.

Must be able to read the English language on a level that will allow comprehension and understanding of job instructions, safety procedures, maps, payroll and leave records, and other TVA administrative instructions.

Must be able to write the English language on a level that clearly and concisely communicates information required to accurately complete various administrative forms such as Trip Sheets, DOT Logs, payroll and leave records, travel vouchers, equipment reports, accident reports, etc.

Must be able to perform simple Mathematical calculations on a level that will allow accurate completion of payroll and leave records, travel vouchers, mileage reports
