Job Description

Overview

The Triage Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide comprehensive care for patients. The position handles incoming phone calls from patients who are seeking medical information, scheduling assistance, or health education.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Triages patients over the telephone. Assesses and evaluates their concerns. This includes screening the condition, advising the patient in home self-care when appropriate and facilitating an office visit with physician when necessary
  • Acts as a liaison between the patient and the clinical sites
  • Proficiency in clinical skills as well as the processes involved in maintaining a smooth flow of patients
  • Understands when to delegate calls
  • Answers and addresses clinical questions sent by patients via the patient portal
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Responsible for clinical assessment of patients' needs and implementing a plan of action to accomplish established goals for all scheduled shifts
  • Acts as a clinical mentor to members of the call center team
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Schedules routine and acute appointments for patients based on their needs

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

Education: Nursing Program from an accredited university or college.

Experience: 1 year dermatology experience preferred.

Certifications & Licenses: LPN, RN (preferred)

Technology Applications: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate-controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.
Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or medical clinic environment.
