Job Description
The Miami HEAT Digital Content team is seeking a Travel Videographer/Editor. This position serves as the team’s traveling videographer and multimedia producer both at home in Miami and on the road providing media coverage of all HEAT events as assigned. This multi-skilled tech-savvy position acts as Videographer, Editor, Photographer, and coordinator of content for social media platforms. This position works with the Digital Content and Social Media teams and fulfills daily video and photo assignments that support and enhance branding and campaigns as well as editorial needs. This position is responsible for using a digital cinema camera and its lens to create, capture and document both moving images (VIDEO) and still images (PHOTOGRAPHY) to create compelling and engaging content with a strong emphasis on storytelling across all channels including tv, mobile, web, in-app, and social media platforms. This position documents the Miami HEAT Brand using best practices in sports digital cinematography and traditional electronic news-gathering (ENG) and works closely with Basketball Operations including Coaches, Players, and Sports Media Relations, assisting with the team’s video and digital content needs fostering a high level of trust and access to sensitive areas and events. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining broadcast equipment both in the studio and in the field. The position possesses the technical knowledge and skill required to produce, transcode, organize, edit, and distribute content across all HEAT Group digital platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list:
  • Studio shoots including chroma key and sit-down interviews
  • Field Location shoots
  • Miami HEAT Branded Content
  • Responsible for shooting and capturing intellectual HEAT images (Video and Photography) at a variety of events for all HEAT digital platforms.
  • Subject-driven features as assigned.
  • HEAT practices, game action and postgame interviews both at home and on the road.
  • Write, produce and edit content using Adobe Premiere Pro CC and AVID editing system for all mediums.
  • Create high-quality, Digital-Optimized content that demonstrates creativity and excellence in terms of framing, lighting, sound, composition and editing.
  • Fulfills daily video and photo assignments that support and enhance branding and campaigns and editorial needs
  • Exercises editorial judgment in selection of content and supports the creation of pre-produced elements for all HEAT digital platforms.
  • Responsible for organizing, logging, importing, exporting, and uploading video and photo files to servers daily.
  • Responsible for keeping all files organized.
  • Responsible for streaming of video content for Internet and/or Social Media
  • Distributes daily content to all digital platforms
  • Ensures an organized process for ingesting and distributing footage.
  • Serve dual role as Field Producer and videographer on projects and at events as needed.
  • Responsible for field-producing duties such as researching, information gathering, coordinating, conduct interviews, and oversee remote production crew.
  • Responsible for operating LiveU live streaming device to provide highlights to editors for Social Media content.
  • Operate ENG Field and Studio equipment including but not limited to: Lighting, Audio, tripod and grip equipment.
  • Responsible for in-studio and on location shoots including but not limited to transporting, setting up and operating various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones.
  • Required to learn, operate and manage Digital Content Workflow and Media Production systems:
  • Researches and recommends new technology for Video Production and Digital Cinema.
  • Must have US Passport and be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Works closely with Basketball Operations and shoots practice and edits content as requested.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of software applications like Adobe Creative Cloud and office software like Excel, Word, Outlook for basic office work.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, AVID Media Composer and Interplay Asset Managing System; Glookast Ingest Server; SONY Cameras; Canon Camera and Lenses; Radiant Grid transcoding system etc.
  • Manages, preserves and help maintain studio and field equipment inventory.
  • Responsible for all field technical requirements
  • Stays up to date with HEAT team news, information and history.
  • Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with Digital Content team members and assists with coordinating/directing technical personnel, on-air talent and other high profile individuals.

Education And/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year university or equivalent technical school training. Must possess 3 years of broadcast production experience in the following areas: videography (video and audio); lighting; field producing; LIVE and remote productions; scripting and writing; non-linier editing and asset management; post production compositing with motion graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop & After Affects.
Employee must be willing and able to work a variety of long and unique hours including weekends and holidays, under daily deadline pressure, effectively and collaboratively with staff and talent, while providing network quality production that meets or exceeds The Heat Group’s expectations.
