Transportation Maintenance Worker 9 (Lead Worker) Plainwell Garage

Perform as the lead worker for the assigned garage and/or other maintenance workers within the Region by performing maintenance activities and leading maintenance workers performing maintenance activities, including assuring that work is completed properly. Perform as the lead worker responsible for guiding crew members in safety protocols, instructing crew members on how to operate equipment safely, training crew members in proper maintenance operations, and guiding those participating in the Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) work element program.

Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience
Three years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker E8.

For any level above the TMW 7, the MDOT's Statewide Work Element Coordinator must approve satisfactory completion of the MDOT's TMW Work Element training and certification program.

Some positions may also be assigned duties that require the application of pesticides that may require certification or registration as a pesticide applicator in compliance with Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) regulations.
Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Group A with N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
