Overview:
About the role:

Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, this position will manage the implementation of the defined global and U.S. safety initiatives into its assigned regional ACM business. This position will implement the initiatives within the five pillars of carrier and customer safety to make them part of the region’s policies and practices.

This position will manage 3 rd party carriers to ensure that capacity requirements are met, deliveries are made as scheduled (exception free), and carrier schedules and costs are managed effectively to protect the company’s resources.
Responsibilities:

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely with the Logistics Manager, sales team, service provider/s, and carrier base to drive digital freight procurement solutions
  • Collaborate with the ACM regional business team to plan, organize and embed safety initiatives into the business.
  • Coordinate daily customer orders/trucking through shippers and/or sales staff
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Create a culture of safety across all road transportation responsibilities that influence the actions and behaviour of every stakeholder.
  • Work with service provider/s and ACM regional team to ensure rates are competitive and capacity is available.
  • Ensure that the five pillars of carrier/customer safety become a standard for the carriers through regular meetings with carrier-base to review their safety programs, incident investigations, and customer feedback.
  • Manage logistics reporting, assessing results to improve transportation performance
  • Carrier development and capacity management
  • Work closely with sales personnel, quarry shippers, and service provider/s regarding which trucks/drivers are most suited for each delivery
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular reporting to the Logistics Manager, Sales Manager, ACM regional head, and project teams on the status of the project implementation.
  • Responsible for driving the carrier’s safety within the region. Ensure that carriers are continually improving and maintaining safety standards.
  • Address issues that external or external customers may have with individual drivers and/or carriers
  • Candidate must learn to dispatch trucks electronically through the HaulHub application (cloud based digital freight procurement). The candidate will work closely with HaulHub personnel and carriers to onboard new drivers, ensure proper daily usage, and utilize collected data to improve transport safety and cost performance.
  • Coordinate daily material orders/trucking with internal concrete and asphalt plants
  • Coordinate and track vacation days for all quarry shippers and schedule proper coverage of each quarry scale.
  • Work with a multitude of ACM regional business functions to align on goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for all carrier incident investigations and making recommendations as to which carriers should be used (safety and performance).


Relationships with other jobs:

  • This is a new role and will maintain relationships across a large scope of our company and external organizations. This role will interact regularly with operations, sales, safety and Logistics. Interact with all levels of customers and hired carriers on a regular basis. Relationships must be created and maintained to rollout the safety transformation within the external organization.
Qualifications:

We're looking for:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of relevant work experience.

Field of Study Preferred:
Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business

Required Training/Certifications:
Hazardous cargo / SAP or similar ERP tool

Required Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience with Bachelors and 10 years without Bachelors

Travel Requirements
: 15%

Additional Requirements
: Thorough knowledge in accounts payable and receivable is a must

Licenses Preferred
: None

Required Computer and Software Skills
: Advance knowledge in Excel is a must /SAP or similar ERP skill
set is preferable.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment & PPE, including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and ability to develop effective internal and external relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Disciplined and process-oriented
  • Proficiency in logistics coordination, able to handle multi-level, multi-change situations
