Job Description

Full-time onsite:
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full- time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / JOB SUMMARY
Build, rework, repair, and assemble a wide variety of new and special purpose tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and injection molds of original design, intricate types composed of a variety of metals and plastics. Work from drawings and verbal/written instruction including developmental procedures where information is incomplete or dimensions undetermined, including design, layout and development. Support experimental development of new equipment. Perform repair and modification operations on component piece parts, assemblies, and completed production units. Perform related duties as assigned. Diagnose and correct mechanical difficulties on mechanical equipment. Repair and reassemble equipment including the reworking and/or replacement of defective mechanical components. Construct replacement parts as necessary. Fit and align parts during reassembly for optimum machine performance. Check repaired equipment through sufficient machining cycles to assure satisfactory functioning of the reconditioned equipment. Level and align equipment installations before release to manufacturing for production. Maintain records and perform related duties including material movement while maintaining a safe clean work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform construction, troubleshoot, and repair activities on a wide variety of tooling, equipment, fixtures, and molds.
  • Ability to interpret and apply requirements from provided instructions (i.e. blueprints, manuals, schematics, layouts, verbal instructions, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, both electronic and manual
  • Support experimental development of new tooling and equipment
  • Perform duties related to proper material movement and handling
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area
  • Assure calibration and equipment compliance as required

*All applicants must be open to 1st, 2nd or 3rd shifts*
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Information entry via a computer
  • Ability to read, comprehend and apply written work instructions
  • Toolmaker/Machine Repair A Class Journeyman credentials
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team oriented environment
  • Good manual dexterity and eye/hand/finger coordination for handling small mechanical and electrical equipment

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design / computer-aided manufacturing software
