LOCATION OF (1) POSITION TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (DIDD), TENNESSEE EARLY INTERVENTION SYSTEM DIVISION, SHELBY COUNTY
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social or behavioral science and experience equivalent to three years of full-time professional social or human services work.
Substitution of Graduate Work for Experience: Additional qualifying graduate coursework in social or behavioral science may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years.
OR
Three years of full-time professional social or human services work with the State of Tennessee.
Other Requirements
Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants for this class must:
- Complete a background check in a manner approved by the appointing authority
- Possess a valid driver's license
Job Overview
This classification will oversee the provision of service coordination for families participating in TEIS. An employee in this classification provides training, monitoring, and coaching of service coordinators in the development and implementation of the Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) to improve child and family outcomes. This classification performs responsibilities at the supervisory level under the general guidance of a TEIS District Administrator.
Work Activities
- Offer ongoing support and strategies to service coordinators to ensure timely and thorough completion of all case management responsibilities.
- Train, monitor, and coach service coordinators to complete and document regular monthly targeted case management (TCM) visits/check-ins with all families using family-guided principles and strategies.
- Provide front line supervision for service coordinators that includes onboarding, training, and support for new hires as well as guidance to ensure that offboarding of employees is within state guidelines.
- Review calendars, approve time and travel for service coordinators.
- Provide support to the district administrator for the hiring process that includes the development, implementation, and guidance for the review applicant selection and interview process.
- Train, monitor, and coach service coordinators to gather updates on child and family outcomes, to share information related to development, family interests, and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) priorities to increase caregiver knowledge and resources.
- Train, monitor, and coach service coordinators in case management documentation as specified in the TEIS Operations Manual.
- Notify the district administrator and follow human resource policies when issues arise within district offices.
- Train, monitor, and coach service coordinators to facilitate and conduct timely IFSP meetings by proactively soliciting input from all team members, conducting family assessments, developing functional IFSP outcomes, coordinating IDEA required services to support IFSP outcomes, and modifying the IFSP as needed.
- Provide support to district administrator for the performance management cycle including the development of individual performance plans, interim reviews, and annual performance evaluations.

TN Driver Standards
State of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require candidates to meet the following minimum driver qualifications:
- A valid driver's license
- For the past five years, the candidate's driver record must not have record of the following violations: driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, more than 4 moving violations.
