Marathon Petroleum Company has an opening for a Time & Scheduling Processor within the Human Resources Department at the Detroit Refinery. This position is located in Detroit, MI.
This position reports to Human Resources and will provide payroll and scheduling support services primarily to hourly employees at the refinery utilizing WorkForce software to ensure time and gross pay are correct. The successful candidate will ensure employees are compensated accurately and timely based on Company pay practices, procedures, and legal requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Calculate employee’s pay, as needed, to handle any manual adjustments or corrections required.
  • Serve as a backup to the other Payroll/Scheduling Specialist in addition to providing assistance and support to other HR Staff as needed.
  • Ensure payroll practices align with company procedures. If needed, consults with HRBP’s or Corporate Payroll on federal, state and local laws.
  • Track and submit hourly employee pay progressions.
  • Reconcile monthly Health and Pension statements for payment.
  • Required to work holidays if payroll closeouts are on a company recognized holiday.
  • Participate in internal and SOX audits; address any findings.
  • Update and maintain employee information in the payroll system such as shift changes.
  • Assist Supervisors and HRBPs in problem solving time keeping issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Answer questions regarding payroll, paychecks or time reporting for employees.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with Indeavor, WorkDay, or WorkForce (preferred).
  • Experience working with large, complex payroll involving different pay rules and work schedules (preferred).
  • Minimum 4 or more years of time keeping, scheduling, record keeping, or related experience required.
  • Experience working with union hourly employees (highly preferred).
Skills:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on personnel items.
  • Able to clearly communicate and effectively deal with conflict.
  • Able to critically think through payroll issues and take initiative to solve them.
  • Ability to comply and work with strict deadlines is critical.
  • High degree of accuracy and urgency imperative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
