Temporary - Sustainability Associate

What We Need

• Hourly rate of $20. to $25.
• 5 month temporary assignment
• Location: Preference is SF Bay Area, CA
• 28 hours per week
• Start date: September 11, 2023 - February 9, 2024
• Focus: Tatcha Sustainability

Working with Tatcha Sustainability Head to ensure that Tatcha is tracking and building its overall sustainability strategy to support its environmental and social mission.

This position will work collaboratively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Meet with packaging throughout product development and ensure packaging solutions meet our sustainability goals (implementation of product scored and presenting results for NPD)
• Attend vendor meetings and represent our sustainability interests
• Running of sustainability onboarding
• Review packaging claims (using Unilever as support)
• Running packaging options through SPICE and presenting results to marketing and packaging as needed
• Benchmark new innovations in sustainability/competitive to share with marketing and PD
• Maintenance of packaging tracker as new product development is locked in
• Maintenance of B corp project/exploration
• Creation of newsletter content
• Touch bases with regulatory, R&D, and UPD (Frederick and Ana) to stay updated on regulations and retailer criteria that could affect packaging and formulation

Requirements

• Deep understanding, passion for and/or educational background in Sustainability/Corporate Responsibility or Social Compliance
• Relevant work or study experience with a proven record in social responsibility and/or environmental sustainability

Nice to Have

• Understanding of manufacturing supply chains and environmental issues and demonstrated stakeholder engagement experience a plus
• Knowledge related to international sustainability, including relevant multi-stakeholder and collaborative initiatives and disclosure requirements for the beauty/skincare sector

The Details:

The expected base salary range for this position is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. The hourly rate is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.
