Job Description

TELLER PART TIME - DORAL BRANCH

Job Summary

Accept cash items from customers for deposit. Handles withdrawal and deposits from savings accounts. Has limited authority to cash checks. Process installment loan payments. Process night depository bags and envelopes. Job involves considerable customer contact. Be alert for checks on which stop payment orders have been issued.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Process general ledger entries as required.
  • Place "hold" on accounts for uncollected funds.
  • File signature cards and maintain supplies for the teller area.
  • Make concentrated efforts to solve customer problems.
  • Provide additional customer service, including the sale of traveler's checks, money orders, cashier's checks. Also process loan payment and pay off, payments of safe deposit box, etc.
  • Order supply of cash to meet daily needs, count incoming cash and prepare cash for shipment.
  • Assist with any other assigned duties.
  • Make recommendations to supervisor about possible methods to improve department functions.
  • Verify amounts on deposits and examine checks for endorsement.
  • Promote Bank's services and cross sale Bank's products.
  • Cash checks and pay out money upon verification or signatures and customer balances.
  • Balance cash and ATM (if applicable) transactions daily.
  • Accept cash items for deposit and complete regulatory forms and logs.

Independence of Judgment

The degree of judgment will depend of the complexity and level of the customer's transactions and according to the identification and analysis of problems.

Impact of Errors

The impact of errors in this position could impact the credibility and confidence of the customers and could have a considerable economic impact to the Bank.

Education/Experience

  • Good mathematical and communication skills
  • Ability to use office equipment such as a computer terminal, calculator, copier, fax machine
  • Flexibility on working schedule
  • Cash handling experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Formal training as a teller in a financial institution and at least 3 years of experience in a similar job is required or equivalent combination of education and sufficient experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job is required.
