Job Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

Provides service to credit union members by conducting appropriate transactions and meeting the needs of members by referring them to appropriate departments in the credit union. Fills orders for currency and coins; counts and records cash deposits in the credit union's vault. The position will require a thorough understanding of credit union products and services to ensure complete member satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Teller Duties

  • Closes accounts with balances under $200.00. Accepts and processes MSR closure requests for share certificates.
  • Balances cash box daily and immediately reports outages and/or overages to supervisor.
  • Welcomes members and provides routine information concerning services. Directs members to appropriate department for specific information and service. Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells products to members; makes transfers to and from member accounts as directed.

2. Security and BSA

  • Complies with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) to help detect and prevent money laundering, including but not limited to submitting Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) for cash transactions over $10,000, reporting suspicious activity to immediate supervisor using appropriate notification form, and adhering to all other requirements mandated by federal regulations and the Credit Unions BSA/CIP/OFAC policy.

3. Compliance

  • Properly secures member information in accordance with Credit Union privacy and confidentiality policies. Ensures work area is neat and safe.
  • Completes required training for position within deadlines.
  • Abides by all applicable rules, regulations and Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.

4. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.


Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

The incumbent must possess a high school diploma or GED as well as a minimum of six (6) months similar or related experience. Six (6) months experience handling large amounts of cash is preferred. Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 5 to 30 pounds. This position involves sitting or standing for long periods of time and frequently viewing a computer monitor. This position requires good hand eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.

EQUIPMENT SKILLS

Personal computer with windows environment, copy machine, telephone, calculator and scanner.
