Job Description
Xenai based electrical company is seeking a Lead Cable Technician responsible for the installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of Structured Cabling, Access Control, and IP camera systems. This includes the physical installation of cabling, overseeing the work of others, surveying work sites to determine the best installation practices, coordinating workflow within the unit, will act as company liaison, and providing on-the-job training to other technicians as needed. The position requires travel to job sites. A valid driver's license is a must.


Pay is based on experience: $24-30 an hour

  • Develop project plan including required materials, delivery schedules, completion schedules, manpower requirements, and tool/equipment lists.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of Access Control and video surveillance systems and cable requirements. Ability to install access control devices, video surveillance and knowledge of low voltage power supplies.
  • Physically install Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6, Category 6e, Category 6A, Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems, and Access Control system cabling.
  • Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware including backboards stall closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures, and balance video equipment
  • Perform site surveys, read, and use blueprints and floor plans and conduct visual site inspections
  • Terminate, assemble, and install 8-pin modular connectors and coaxial connectors, light crimp connectors and optical fiber ST, SC and LC ceramic connectors
  • Maintain and reference industry standards including ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and National Electric Code
  • Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards


Job Skills & Qualities Required:


  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience
  • Position requires daily travel to worksites and employees must have the ability to independently get to worksites
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies, cabling standards and components
  • Minimum BICSI Technician certification or equivalent certification
  • Obtain and keep up-to-date clearances: Federal clearances with fingerprinting, Ohio State Police, Ohio Child Abuse.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
