Job Description

Maintenance Department

Tooling Maintenance Mechanic is a position within the Tooling Repair department. The Tooling Repair department is responsible for new tooling, existing tooling and equipment reliability sent to the field for various projects in relationship with contractual and non-contractual obligations. As a Maintenance Mechanic you are responsible to ensure equipment is functioning safely and limit any shortages for equipment in respective areas. This includes but not limited to electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, pumping, and hoists/crane systems.


Responsibilities


Level 1

  • Comply with state and federal regulations for handling, storage, disposal, transport etc. of hazardous materials and waste.
  • And all other duties as assigned.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on tooling equipment and some specialty tools.
  • Use and handle hazardous materials and understand their hazards at various locations using machines and equipment, properly segregate hazardous materials and waste.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Safely perform duties related to generating and storing hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas.
  • Assess risk and verify functionality of equipment released to production.

Level 2 (to include level 1)

  • Communicate to warehouse and/or shipping the transport of hazardous materials and waste according to strict regulatory requirements.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications to determine needed repairs, parts, fabrication, new equipment installs, dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Reads and understands, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic prints and symbols.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Level 3 (to include level 1&2)

  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, contractors, vendors, or others to resolve machining, technical process, or assembly problems.
  • Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. MIG, TIG and stick welding, also weld aluminum.
  • Ensure equipment is documented in SAP and Preventative Maintenance Plans are in place. This includes helping to define spare parts for associated equipment
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • Troubleshoot under tense situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • System skills - Microsoft Office, ERP / MRP systems, SAP.
  • Overall knowledge of LEAN Practices/Principals
  • Ability to create a safe work area
  • Strong Desire to Learn New Skills & Knowledge

Salary Range: $23.00 to $25.00
