Job Overview


The Ruggedized Fiber Optic (RFO) Manufacturing


This opening is for a fiber optic technician. This person will be a key member of our team and will be responsible for optical connector assembly, termination of various configurations of fiber optic cable assemblies, and testing of these cable assemblies. This individual will also assist in process development and resolution of problems encountered in the process of bringing new optical products from concept to market. Other duties will include operation of fiber router & completion of over-molding process. The position will also provide suggestions for the simplification of new products to reduce costs and increase overall manufacturing efficiency. The individual is to be a self-starter and have the ability to work well under schedule pressures and be able to balance workload as priorities change. Candidates need to have a strong work ethic with a desire to continually learn & with a concentrated focus on serving the Customer.


Primary Responsibilities Include


  • Perform IL & RL testing of various configurations of cable assemblies.
  • Perform EFG & IPC (workmanship) checks on both single & multi-fiber termini.
  • Mechanical Aptitude to safely & efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop, identifying issues,
  • Termination of various standard fiber optic termini as well new termini designs.
  • Support prototype product builds, test product builds, pre-release NPI builds.

  • Use of Fiber Optic & Electronic Test Equipment: Optical Power Meters, IL/RL Test, Oscilloscope,
  • Suggest process changes to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Assist in setting-up new manufacturing processes.
  • Communication within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction.


DMM (Digital Multi Meter), Variable Power Supplies, Variable Attenuators, Optical & RF Switch.


This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.


Minimum Requirements


What your background should look like:


  • Attention to Detail (following BOM’s, Routers, and, understanding drawings/prints).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a fiber optic manufacturing environment.
  • Completed High School or equivalent.
  • Proficient Dexterity & Motor Skills for intricate/delicate work.
  • Must have good time management skills to work on numerous projects simultaneously.


Additional Preferred Skills


  • Familiarity of AutoCAD or similar program
  • Excel skills to record, organize, & analyze data.
  • Some post high school technical courses

Compensation


  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $39200-58800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
