Job Description
Summary


The registered pharmacy technician I works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy department. Additionally, provides a high level of assistance in distribution, dispensing, and compounding of non-sterile medications, and related supplies in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.


Detailed Responsibilities


  • Assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories.
  • Prepares non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous medications and cross trains in more advance functions when deem appropriate
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations and within the pharmacy technician scope of practice.
  • Responsible for assiting with orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and students students.
  • Prepares, fills, receives, delivers, stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas. Repackages bulk medications.
  • Performs prescription data entry in pharmacy system when applicable.
  • Process medication charges/credits when applicable.
  • Maintains and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, code carts, trays and kits.
