Job Description
Brandes Associates Inc. (BAI), a Defense contractor, seeks a Technical Writer to work with Quality Assurance Engineers with 3-10 years experience for classified programs, working onsite at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in Camarillo, CA.


The typical annual salary range for this position is $80,000 USD to $120,000 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.
  • Provide minutes of all meetings to include all relevant information including items and issues discussed, action taken and action item status
  • Create and maintain Software Description Documents (SDD) and Software Version Documents (SVD) for Domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) engineering and fleet releases.
  • Provide program studies and analyses, option papers, and program planning; and attend workshop conferences and meetings
  • Provide support to Fleet inquiries and issues which relate to MDEWSSA products and services
  • Interact with internal teams and customers as needed to confirm the SUM changes
  • Must follow customer’s defined engineering processes which are aligned with developmental test and quality assurance best business practices
  • Assist in the creation of other ad-hoc project related documentation as needed
  • Update and maintain existing domestic Software User Manuals (SUM) and future FMS SUMs for the Fiscal Year (FY) fleet release to reflect the changes based on new specific baseline requirements
  • Interact with customers, internal agencies, and team members to develop methods for improvement of the test reporting process
  • Research and provide data or prepare reports in preparation for meetings
  • Document reviews, prepare presentations and marketing materials, and perform and document risk assessments
  • Coordinate with CM on the required Document Control Numbers (DCNs)
  • Help in preparing test reports (as required)
  • Upon approval, the Contractor shall produce the final presentation materials in hardcopy or electronic media format
  • Support briefings of QA assessment results and reports (as needed)
  • Work with software development and QA teams on training documentations/materials
  • Attend the Development Software Team’s bi-weekly standups
  • Attend scheduled Government meetings
  • Support a regular and recurring interface meetings with the customers regarding domestic and FMS SUM versions
  • Work with SW developers to update the associated help files with any updated code for each of Engineering and Final release
  • Prepare presentation materials from rough draft source data that will be reviewed by the Government


Between 3 to 10 years of experience performing the duties described in the job description and responsibilities


  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, detail oriented
  • Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience working within a team environment
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience performing technical writing tasks


Education


  • High School diploma or GED
  • Associates’ or Batchelor’s Degree preferred


Clearance


  • Condition of employment - must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
