Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Technical Editor and Writer for a new and exciting effort located in Melbourne FL.

Responsibilities:

Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Be able to write in XML.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
  • Full knowledge of industry practices. Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks.
  • Must have 7 years of relevant experience. Will consider 3 years with Bachelor's Degree; or 1 year of experience with Master’s Degree.
  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to maintain with background investigation within the past 5 years.
  • Must be obtain and retain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in utilizing the USAF Flight Manual or Maintenance Manual change process.
  • Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module writing (Arbortext, EAGLE, XMetal, or similar program).
  • Experience as an air vehicle maintainer.
  • Experience with the Eagle/EPS publishing system.
  • Experience authoring and/or using Illustrated Parts Diagrams.


Salary Range: $55,100 USD - $82,700 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
