Job Description
Join our world-class Customer Solutions Marketing organization at Cisco. As Technical Brand Writer, you will have the opportunity to work with groups across the CSM marketing organization and subject matter experts within the business units to help establish Cisco as a leader in one of the most important segments—network automation.

Who You'll Work With

Technical Brand Writer will work closely with our go-to-market team, who implements paid media campaigns, events, email marketing, web, video, and more. They will play a key role in helping us achieve a consistent brand voice globally.

Who You Are

Technology can connect us, empower us, and drive us. And words - whether they’re in an e-book, a web page, an email, an organic social copy or a script—hold the power to educate and inspire.

You are a brand and go-to-market copywriter who is passionate about both; tech and content creation are among your favorite things. You will help bring our story to life through expertly-crafted copy across all our marketing channels and customer touchpoints!

Our ideal candidate has a passion for writing and finds excitement in crafting the perfect 80-character headline.

  • You are committed to problem-solving and are meticulous, curious, and collaborative—with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to explain the rationale behind their work.
  • Able to think strategically about their projects, to produce creative that helps the Marketing Team achieve their goals.

What You'll Do

Build content focused on the awareness and consideration phases of the buying cycle, including but not limited to “activation copy” like web pages, email, organic social copy and script.

  • Work with marketing managers, Comms, the digital and events teams, Market Strategy colleagues, and more to articulate the value of our solutions to multiple audiences (customers, partners, internal teams, and others) through the written word.
  • Channel a passion for words and messaging to adapt them for different audiences and channels to deliver the best results (possess a data-driven approach with a good dash of creativity).
  • Structure and write a variety of content types for marketing and promotional materials—advertising, organic social media, video scripts, web copy & landing pages, infographics, presentations, emails, event copy, podcast scripts, and more!
  • Be fiercely passionate about understanding our customers and speaking to them the way they would like to be spoken to.
  • Communicate clearly about a traditionally jargon-heavy, complex set of technologies in a concise, customer-focused manner.
  • Help maintain a consistent brand voice, adhering to style guides, brand guidelines, and more.
Skills and experience

You have:

  • 3-5 proven experience in writing at a tech company, marketing agency, or related experience.
  • Skill at explaining your writing, process, and decisions and an appetite for feedback to help you produce the best work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising/Marketing, Creative Writing, or a related field.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and to adjust to shifts in timelines, deadlines, budgets, and project goals.
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to work well both independently and in a cross-functional, fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience in copywriting with a focus on branding and advertising.
  • A sharply honed eye for detail with just as much passion for the editing process as the writing process.
  • A portfolio that showcases excellence in copywriting & creative thinking, as well as a clean, polished style and an ability to distill complex concepts and technologies into compelling copy without “dumbing it down.”

Why Cisco

#WeAreCisco. We are all unique, but collectively we bring our talents to work as a team, to develop innovative technology and power a more inclusive, digital future for everyone. How do we do it? Well, for starters – with people like you!

Nearly every internet connection around the world touches Cisco. We’re the Internet’s optimists. Our technology makes sure the data travelling at light speed across connections does so securely, yet it’s not what we make but what we make happen which marks us out. We’re helping those who work in the health service to connect with patients and each other; schools, colleges and universities to teach in even the most challenging of times. We’re helping businesses of all shapes and size to connect with their employees and customers in new ways, providing people with access to the digital skills they need and connecting the most remote parts of the world – whether through 5G, or otherwise.

We tackle whatever challenges come our way. We have each other’s backs, we recognise our accomplishments, and we grow together. We celebrate and support one another – from big and small things in life to big career moments. And giving back is in our DNA (we get 10 days off each year to do just that).

We know that powering an inclusive future starts with us. Because without diversity and a dedication to equality, there is no moving forward. Our 30 Inclusive Communities, that bring people together around commonalities or passions, are leading the way. Together we’re committed to learning, listening, caring for our communities, whilst supporting the most vulnerable with a collective effort to make this world a better place either with technology, or through our actions.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us! #WeAreCisco

Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. hiring location. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
