The role:
Join our team as a technical assistant in the Crash Reporting Unit at our DMV headquarters office in Salem! In this role, you will assist the manager in operation of the unit. You will be the primary contact for employee questions, assess workload, ensure even distribution of work and act as a subject matter expert implementing work processes and procedures. Apply today!

A day in the life:
  • Work is performed in an office environment working from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday-Friday.
  • Assist unit employees in resolving customer complaints and escalated issues.
  • Evaluate Oregon license issuance and vehicle registration (OLIVR) functionality to ensure accuracy and identify system issues.
  • Give technical advice to managers, staff or outside organizations on program regulations or guidelines.

  • Assist in training unit personnel while sharing information, knowledge and resources with the team.
  • Review and evaluate statistical data gathered, create and share reports and make recommendations to improve processing methods.
  • Find resolutions based on statute rule and ODOT’s decision making model.
  • Act as primary contact for unit employees and respond to questions or concerns.
  • Maintain detailed institutional knowledge of law enforcement practices when relevant to crash reporting, as well as knowledge of qualifications for the safety program.
  • Assess the current workload to ensure even distribution of work.
  • Assist in maintaining and overseeing the retention of files, and the awareness of hearings processes.

What we need:
Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data;
OR
An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
