Hours: 7:15 AM - 2:45 PM
Seeking a Physical Education/Health Teacher for eAcademy, a virtual, online program for students grades 7-12. Develops in each pupil an understanding of the relationship of good body function and exercise; motivates each pupil to cultivate physical fitness, hygienic habits, and good social and emotional adjustment; discovers and develops talents of pupils in physical achievement; develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each pupil's ability and in conjunction with each child's teacher/therapist. Specific Duties: 1. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. 2. Works cooperatively with classroom teacher and therapists in planning a balanced physical education program. 3. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. 4. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to the extent feasible. 5. Teaches physical education classes for students with disabilities. 6. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils. 7. Maintains control of storage and use of physical education equipment. 8. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas. 9. Evaluates each pupil's growth in physical skills. 10. Maintains professional competence through Inservice education provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities. 11. Selects and requisitions equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records. 12. Communicates with parents and school personnel on pupil progress. 13. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 14. Provides consultation to other Physical Education instructors in component districts.
Job Qualifications

• Must hold valid New York State Teaching Certification in Physical Education 7-12 and Health 7-12
• Experience with Google Classroom or other online platforms
