Ark Valley Preschool is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic preschool teacher to educate, inspire and care for our preschool students. As a classroom teacher, you are responsible for planning and implementing daily classroom lesson plans and age-appropriate activities, and to assure the safety of the children enrolled at Ark Valley Preschool, in accordance with the duties described listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Teachers will be responsible for planning and carrying out lesson plans and activities while caring for and supervising students, including the following specific duties and responsibilities:

• Instill a sense of order and discipline in the classroom.
• Maintain attendance, behavioral and incidental records for each student.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development training sessions.
• Assist the Director in the development of curriculum and programs for preschool children.
• Encourage social interactions between children to boost self-esteem.
• Create and update profile in Colorado Shines (PDIS).
• Respond to parent communications in a timely and effective manner.
• Provide regular reports to the Director/Assistant Director regarding classroom needs, concerns, issues, progress, and success/failure of lessons and curriculum.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Assistant Director or Executive Board.
• Educate children about fundamental concepts and assist in preparing them for the next stage of education.
• Monitor free play in the classroom and on the playground.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to emotional, social, physical and educational needs.
• Lead and communicate with aides and support staff in daily activities and lesson plan objectives.
• Provide regular reports to parents regarding their child’s developmental progress, and provide behavioral and incidental reports, as necessary.
• Prepare lessons and activities and arrange materials for lessons, as needed.
• Engage in creative methods of learning, including arts and crafts, supervised play, and storytelling.
• Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, happy, stimulating, and organized.
• Assist the Director in the application review, interview and hiring of aides and/or classroom support staff.
• Assist children with activities of daily life and hygiene, including restroom use, diapering and hand washing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Teachers must have a B.A. or B.S. in Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field. Teachers must be CPR, First Aid and Universal Precautions certified (or willing and able to obtain certifications within 30 days of hiring).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ark Valley Preschool prefers that any Teacher candidate meets the following qualifications, but will consider any applicant that meets the qualifications stated as Job Requirements, above:

1. 2 years’ teaching experience.

2. Demonstrable ability to communicate with young children at their level.

3. Passion for planning creative, memorable lesson plans.

4. Patient, nurturing and compassionate attitude, with friendly and energetic disposition.

5. Capable administrative and organizational skills.

6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7. No criminal record or child offenses.
