Teacher for the Upper School
The German International School Washington D.C. seeks a part time teacher for French at the Upper School for

Grades 5-9

OPENING 2023/24 school year

This position consists of 17,5 instructional hours per week and includes

associated duties outside of the classroom (preparation, grading,

supervision, responding to parents, meetings, events)

The teacher instructs students in Grades 5-9 in accordance with the

GENERAL following provisions:

INFORMATION -school curriculum

• Curricula according to provisions by the German International Abitur

Exam (Deutschen Internationale Abiturprüfung)

This position is limited to one school year for the time being

Duties include:

Individual and small-group instruction, adapting the curriculum to the

needs of students with varying abilities.

Compliance with all guidelines and rules; working with other German

Schools Abroad.

Preparation, administration and grading of tests, exams, and

assignments to evaluate students’ progress. Preparation of lessons and

DESCRIPTION materials for class activities.

Creation and management of accurate and complete student records

as required by laws and administrative regulations.

Enforcement of all policies and rules governing students; maintaining

appropriate discipline.

Observation and evaluation of student performance, behavior, social

development, and physical health.

Meetings to confer with parents and guardians to discuss their

children’s progress and to offer guidance for their development.


Participation in school working groups, especially in the area of Quality

Management

Willingness to incorporate non-school events/opportunities into the

curriculum (e. g. theater, museums)

Fluency in French, both verbal and written

First and Second Staatsexamen or comparable certification

Teaching experience in grades 5-9
REQUIREMENTS

Experience with Abitur

Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
