Teacher Assistant/Aide Jobs

Summary

General Position Description
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for inspiring, supporting and caring for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. The Assistant Teacher will promote a positive reciprocal relationship with the children in his/her care through hugs, smiles, nurturing language, and positive guidance. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a comforting and respectful care environment and promoting optimal child development. The Assistant Teacher must be able to respond to changing work environments and be a flexible team player.

Duties

Daily job functions of the Assistant Teacher include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting classroom associate/lead teacher with activities in accordance with curriculum objectives and developmentally appropriate practice
• Reporting any suspected abuse to Director and/or DCYF
• Arranging a classroom environment conducive to early learning
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Utilizing sign language, storytelling and singing to promote language development
• Maintaining daily open communication with parents
• Providing input for assessment of children's development
• Maintaining confidentiality of children, families, and other staff
• Maintaining 18 hours of professional development annually
• Inspecting and replacing damaged or lost materials
• Attending in-service and staff meetings

• Including but not limited to:

A minimum of 6 hours in infant and toddler focused training
SIDS and Safe Sleep trainings
No less than 3 hours of Health & Safety Trainings, per NHCCLU
The NH Health & Safety Trainings on ProSolutions

• Meeting all licensing regulations as required through the NH Child Care Licensing Unit
• Keeping all appropriate records such as attendance records, curriculum sheets, and other records as applicable

Requirements

• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding of child development.
• High energy.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional childcare experience.
• Must clear full background check.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
