At Idealist Consulting, we are innovators and problem-solvers committed to global progressive action. We help organizations grow through Salesforce implementation, marketing automation, and custom application development. Idealist Consulting has been B Corp Certified since 2008.

We're seeking Tableau Consultants to join our contractor pool, with a potential path to full-time employment. You will empower clients through the creation of insightful, interactive dashboards and data storytelling using Tableau: that’s The Idealist Way.

How You'll Contribute

  • Build, test, and deploy Tableau dashboards tailored to the client's needs, ensuring high usability and data integrity
  • Promote data hygiene best practices, maintaining data integrity throughout all Tableau designs
  • Leverage Tableau’s advanced functionality to create complex calculations, LOD expressions, dynamic parameters, and interactive dashboard components
  • Work closely with the Services and Client Success teams on kickoff presentations, deliverable plans, status reports, hours reports, scope creep and escalations, documentation, and deployment
  • Implement third-party solutions and applications as needed per project, ensuring seamless integration with Tableau
  • Translate complex data from various sources into meaningful Tableau dashboards and reports
  • Coordinate implementation schedules, resources, and deliverables, especially when a dedicated Project Manager has not been assigned
  • Use Agile project management methodologies and PM tools to maintain quality, ensure communication, and keep projects within scope
  • Drive user adoption and provide client education on the power of Tableau, system functionality, and the broader data visualization ecosystem
  • Plan and manage Tableau implementations from discovery to deployment, including requirements gathering, solution design, dashboard development, and user acceptance testing

Your Background Includes

  • A creative and analytical mindset with a passion for solving customer problems through data visualization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify technical concepts for a non-technical audience
  • 2+ years of hands-on Tableau experience with a portfolio showcasing your ability to create dynamic, interactive dashboards
  • Baseline Expectation
  • Multiple Tableau certifications
  • Experience managing projects or engaging in projects with technical and cross-functional components
  • Strong understanding of data analytics and ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable visuals
  • Tableau Desktop Specialist or Tableau Certified Associate
  • Familiarity with nonprofit business processes such as fundraising, donor relations, and program management
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Extra Credit

What You Can Expect

  • Common purpose: We help amplify the mission impact of nonprofits and other progressive organizations
  • Communication: clear, respectful communications and expectations setting
  • Flexibility: as a contract Consultant, you define your own availability
  • Community: our Consultants thrive with mutual knowledge sharing in multiple support channels and optional monthly Consultant meetings

Candidates are reviewed on a rolling basis. Role will remain open until need is fulfilled.
