Job Description
This role is for our Moscow, Idaho location. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to work on-site.

Lightcast is looking for a System Administrator to install, configure, upgrade, and maintain our hardware, networks, and software.
Applicants should be self-directed, resourceful, posses strong troubleshooting/problem solving skills, and be good at communicating/working with a variety of teams and users.
Your goal will be to ensure that our in-house and cloud technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Ensure system security via access controls, backups, firewalls, etc.
  • Identify and replace aging server/network hardware
  • Install and configure physical server hardware (primarily Debian/Ubuntu Linux, and Windows)
  • Maintain physical and virtual systems via regular updates and patching
  • Troubleshoot server/network issues and outages
  • Assist IT HelpDesk with Linux system troubleshooting
  • Monitor server/network performance
  • Manage AWS Transfer Family FTPS server
  • Maintain internal knowledge base with technical documentation and policies
  • Install and configure networking gear (Cisco, Dell, Mikrotik)
What You'll Need
  • Proficient in a scripting language (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Experience with Linux (Debian and Ubuntu) and Windows
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking, NAT, and VLAN
  • Experience with cloud computing (e.g. AWS, OpenStack, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with ZFS/file system snapshot technology
  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and database troubleshooting/migration/replication
  • Familiarity with Bind DNS/AWS Route 53
  • Familiarity with LDAP and Active Directory
  • Experience with data backup/recovery systems
  • BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS) or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Ansible, Salt)
