This role is full-time, year-round, and based in our home office in Berkeley, CA

Pay Range: $120,000 - $155,000
This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters. Pay ranges for remote-eligible roles will be subject to adjustment based on the geolocation of the employee.

What You’ll Do:

We are looking for a well-rounded System Administrator to join the IT Infrastructure team at Backroads. As the System Administrator, you will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and security of Backroads systems. As part of the IT team, you will also be responsible for developing and improving processes and functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively mentor junior IT support team as well as provide support
  • Administer Endpoint security SaaS solution i.e. Carbon Black, Sophos Cloud, DarkTrace, Rapid7
  • Own application and operating system tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Manage and maintain Global Windows Server Infrastructure which include Windows Exchange, SQL Server, RADIUS Server, Windows Deployment Services.
  • Create and maintain documentation on systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Administer Storage Area Network Infrastructure and ensure systems availability and uptime. i.e. Dell Unity, Dell Equalogic, Synology,
  • Proactively identify process inefficiencies and compliance issues and implement strategic solutions.
  • Manage Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Identity management i.e. Azure ADFS, Azure AD Sync
  • Participate in corporate-wide IT solutions, planning, and deployment of IT-related projects.
  • Administer Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policies.
  • Maintain VMWare Infrastructure
  • Administer Enterprise Backup Infrastructure i.e. Veeam, and Dell Avamar; Ensure backup availability for global network.
  • Setup, configure, and maintain servers and services.
  • Administer IT SaaS applications i.e. O365, ProofPoint, Five9s’, Okta, Metallic, Saleforce CRM and Marketing Cloud, Jira Software, Jira Service Management solution, Jira Confluence, Privilege Access Management.

What You’ll Need:

Must have:

  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Strong Oral and Written communication skills.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • Knowledge and administration for variety of applications and hardware including Fortinet Firewalls, VMWare ESX 7 & vCenter, Veeam Backup, Windows Server (2016-2019), Exchange 2016, SQL, Active Directory Management, IIS, Jira, Confluence, Office 365, Windows 10.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • 3+ years systems administration experience including Windows Server 2012/2016/2019.
  • Solid understanding of Windows operating concepts (DFS, active directory, replication, service and log management, terminal services, permissions, etc..).
  • Experience with SAN/NAS storage devices.

Nice to have:

  • BA/BS in computer science or equivalent education
  • Linux/Unix and network administration
  • MacOS experience
