Description
We are seeking an experienced technology professional to provide systems engineering, support, and maintenance in a mixed Linux and Windows Hybrid Cloud/On-Premise environment. The primary focus of this role is Windows systems engineering and administration, however support of Office 365/Microsoft 365/Azure, Nutanix and AWS platforms is also required. Our Windows environment consists primarily of Windows 2016 and 2019 file servers, MS-SQL servers, and domain controllers across two domains and in multiple locations, both on-premise and cloud. All systems in our environments are authenticated via AD (Kerberos), including all Windows, Linux, and in-house developed systems. This role requires working with software developers and business users to provide for their computing needs while maintaining security and adhering to established standards. The ability to understand complex requirements and turn them into working solutions in a relatively short amount of time is required.
Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering and/or administration
Required Skills
  • Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision
  • Expertise with GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and other related AD functions
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong Office 365 / Microsoft 365 skills (design, installation, deployment, and administration) including experience with related tools - Intune, Defender ATP, Azure AD, SharePoint, Dynamics 365, etc.
  • Experience creating and maintaining file shares and related security for shares used in hybrid Linux and Windows environment
  • Experience managing Microsoft licensing
  • AWS engineering and administration skills
  • Nutanix administration and engineering
  • Azure experience - currently limited to AAD and related tools
  • Provide technical expertise to end-user support engineers and assist with complex end-user problems when needed
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
  • Expertise with user administration in on-premise/cloud hybrid environment
  • Windows systems engineering - Installation, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • PowerShell scripting for systems administration tasks
  • Datadog/PagerDuty monitoring and alerting
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot problems and remediate them quickly with limited information
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users
  • Recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment
  • Rely on experience and judgment as well as instructions and pre-established guidelines to plan and accomplish goals and perform wide variety of tasks
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems and related applications
  • Perform system backups and recovery and maintain disaster recovery/business continuity plan
  • Maintain data files and file shares, and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity and security
  • Recommend and schedule repairs, re-engineering, and system improvements
  • Develop and maintain all Windows systems, applications, security, and configurations
  • Monitor system performance and ensures compliance with security standards
  • Install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate, and install patches, and resolve software related problems
  • Analyze and resolve problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software
