The Supply Chain Leader for the Composites OC Lumber business will provide functional expertise and leadership to the business. Specifically, the Supply Chain Leader is accountable for creating and recommending the customer service and supply chain strategies for short and long-term plans to meet the customer needs in a specialty business. The role will be responsibility for leading a cross-functional team through the organization to deliver world class customer service and technology through our business. This people leader will own the functional strategy and operational direction of the department, resolve complex problems that require unique solutions, influencing others to accept new practices and approaches and the ability to communicate and influence executive leadership. The successful candidate should have exceptional analytical skills, initiative to take action, while facilitating change within an organization.


WHAT YOU’LL DO


Knowing Our Businesses, and Customers

• Build relationships within the functional organization, the cross functional organization and business-facing leadership

• Understand our customers, business channels and the unique challenges and needs of each

• Primary point of contact for the business unit commercial teams as well as supply chain leadership and other internal partners

• Receives customer feedback and creates action plans to deliver a differentiated customer experience

• Develop relationships with key partners inside and outside the organization, including, but not limited to customers, the commercial team, and peers within the entire supply chain

• Understand what best-in-class service means and develop strategies and actions to achieve

• Translates organizational strategy into day-to-day priorities and actions for the team

• Identifies and participates in joint value creation opportunities with key customer

• Develop and manage tracking and approval process for expediated orders for internal and external customers aligned to business rules


Executing Strategy

• Ensure all functional standard operating procedures (SOPs) are in place, up-to-date and clearly understood

• Identify process gaps and create new SOPs as needed

• Leading the team to achieve day-to-day performance objectives in support of the business goals, with keen emphasis on differentiated service in the market by proactively resolving issues before they impact our customer, being deeply connected to our customers (building trusting relationships), demonstrated unrivaled reliability (we do what we say we’re going to do), and acting with speed (we respond with a sense of urgency)

• Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities to elevate service and development of processes to deliver those opportunities

• Lead the plant team to deliver customer specialty orders and requests

• Respond to internal and external customer needs/concerns and provide options that create win/win solutions

• Leverage tools and technology to create internal efficiencies, consistency and an improved customer experience

• Embrace continuous improvement methodologies and tools to support a waste-free environment

• Analyze data and provide insights to identify issues/opportunities for improvement


Leading in the Supply Chain Function and Daily Operations

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for service processes and systems

• Develop business partner and customer trust by ensuring consistent follow through and operating with integrity

• Strive to strengthen and add value to the larger Supply Chain organization through active participation in and leadership of the objectives of the Team

• Partner with plant team to achieve day-to-day performance objectives in support of business segment goals, with keen emphasis on becoming our customers’ supplier of choice.

• Ensure visibility to and understanding of performance metrics, key messages, and daily priorities across the customer service, sales quoting, and transportation operations organizations and the supply chain. Provides proactive communication to commercial leaders when customer’s expectations will not be met.

• Identifies and develops OC Lumber business performance metrics used to measure team performance. KPI’s should provide a barometer of the customer experience while supporting overall business segment strategy.

• Determine operational priorities, resolving issues, resource planning and talent deployment.

• Develop, document, and deliver creative solutions to continuous improvement opportunities, supporting business and customer objectives through world-class execution at the most competitive cost structure.


Trusted Business Partner

• Owns the strategies of scheduling, purchasing inbound materials, warehouse and transportation.

• Works directly with the plant teams to supply customer orders.

• Directly owns the strategic build and direction of the S&OP

• Tie the S&OP to the plant capacity capabilities to drive strategic manufacturing and sourcing decisions.

• Works directly with the suppliers to convert the high-level ops plan into a direct production schedule.

• Responsible for inventory accuracy and accountability.

• Support the upgrades for the Quote to Production process improvements using, Variable Material Codes, and SAP

• Works directly with Sourcing to optimize material procurement and cost down strategies.

• Manages and drives support and strategic direction for PO management and payment for all vendor supplied materials, dotted line leadership to the plant purchasing/planner/scheduler.

• Directly manages the TSS to provide the leadership required to optimize transportation, planning, packaging, turnaround, cost optimization and delivery accuracy. This includes material receipts through goods delivered to the customer site.

Risk and Opportunity Management

• Analyzes product line risks and develops contingency options

• Works with sales and operations teams to drive qualification of supply alternatives

• Develops capacity models and analysis to mitigate risk

• Continuously improves S&OP and process controls

• Develops short-term and long-term scenario models and analysis to support the product line


Coaching and Mentoring Talent

• Lead the performance management process for the team; coaching and developing employees; correcting performance issues; rewarding and recognizing performance, all while synchronizing results with other people leaders across the supply chain.

• Coach and mentor customer service representatives

• Create an atmosphere of teamwork, trust and transparency in a manner that values the team collectively as well as individually.

• Provide product training as needed and act as the product expert with the team


WHAT YOU’LL NEED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field is required

• Five plus years of supply chain and sourcing or relevant decking business or commercial experience (engineering, operations, finance, general management) with progressive responsibilities

• Project management skills that drive impact, deliver strong results and lead change

• Demonstrated strategy development and results in packaging, direct materials or related space


EXPERIENCE:

• Experience at creating and implementing strategies at a comprehensive level within a corporate environment for supply chain or businesses.

• Experience delivering strong results in team-based matrix organizations geographically and functionally.

• Extensive knowledge of SAP implementation and identify improvements to better serve customers

• An experienced manager and motivator of teams, able to select, develop and retain high performing talent.

• Demonstrated track record of results, strong commercial orientation, with thorough understanding of financial statements, especially cash flow and cash generation, cost reduction, productivity, and working capital.

• Managing external perspective relative to macro-economic trends

• Application of data driven management through six sigma metrics, FMEA, SWOT, DMAIC

• Planning complex projects across multiple internal functions

• Demonstrated acumen on supply chain and sourcing influence to financials including; cash flow and EBIT

• Understanding of customer expectations and provide top customer service experience
