Job Overview
Oversee day-to-day management of sports partnerships and associated consumer events, including Mercedes-Benz Stadium, New Orleans Saints, Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the Masters, Super Bowl, the Golden State Warriors/Chase Center, Formula One U.S. Grand Prix races, and Sports Ambassadors. The position includes the development of long-range strategic plans, budget creation, program implementation, event execution, vendor management, budget and data analysis & reporting. Work closely with various internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure maximum efficiencies and brand benefits are achieved.
Responsibilities
  • Lead an internal team of one direct report as well as 7 – 10 non-direct agency employees.
  • Requires successful management of agency partners and seamless integration with various internal and external teams.
  • Supervise iconic sponsored sports events, including the Masters, Augusta National Women’s Amateur and oversee the relationship with Augusta National Golf Club. Responsible for the strategic plan, activation, budget, contracting and execution of all sports events. Source plans that grow the brand presence YOY through strategic development of onsite programs for maximum exposure and consumer growth. Work with appropriate internal and external organizations to identify and activate engagements against targeted brand guidelines and objectives. Provide pre and post evaluation of all event activities and programs.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all MBUSA personnel and dealers as related to local and regional sports sponsorships and events.
  • Oversee Formula One activations for the (3) races held in the United States including Mercedes-AMG Petronas Team support, owner activities/hospitality and events held in host cities.
  • Oversee the Naming Rights Sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz Stadium & Luxury Automotive Sponsorship category with the New Orleans Saints, including planning, day-to-day management, execution, budget and analysis. Manage integrated external agency support teams and serve as direct contact for stadium and team personnel. Work with appropriate internal and external organizations to identify and activate engagements against targeted brand guidelines and objectives. Provide pre and post evaluation of all event activities and programs.
  • Manage the Automotive Luxury Category sponsorship with the Golden State Warriors and Chase Center. Includes fan-facing activations at home NBA games and upwards of 40 musical concerts annually. Maximize sponsorship asset benefits and work closely with San Francisco area dealerships.
  • Operate as the main point of contact for all Mercedes-Benz AG (MBAG – global HQ) initiated sports activity, which includes integration into programs such as the Masters, Formula One, the Laver Cup and standalone programs that may develop in partnership with MBAG. Position is responsible for the management of the strategic planning, contracting and execution of said initiatives.
  • Work with MBAG for annual MBUSA reimbursement of all jointly agreed upon contractual services expenses.
  • Ensure all programs adhere to the established Data Capture processes that officiate the leads from the entire BEM portfolio of assets.
  • Conduct the successful contracting and implementation of Sports Ambassadors (and all programs in which they participate) within the BEM portfolio. Govern all needs with external agents and talent to ensure premier product placement and contract execution. Position is responsible for YOY strategic development of the sports ambassador portfolio.
  • Effectively manage the Brand Experience Marketing Portfolio of assets related to all Sports Programs. Oversee all programs from planning to execution, including budgeting and contract execution.
  • Oversee internal and external correspondence for programs within sports events.
  • Ensure smooth cooperation between MBUSA’s and MBAG’s event marketing and communications departments in order to attain program objectives while adhering to stringent corporate identity guidelines (must achieve set standards and expectations for all national marketing strategies).

  • Must be able to multi-task, re-prioritize, and adapt to rapidly changing needs and fast pace environments.
  • Must have previous management experience of a direct employee.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or other related field(s).
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must possess advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have 6 - 8 years (total) of relevant work experience inclusive of sports marketing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive industry a plus.
