The Supervisor, Lab Purchasing is responsible for overseeing the Exton Lab Purchasing team, the procure to pay process for all laboratory consumables, equipment, inventory management and Lab vendor management. Supervise the team to assure compliance with processes and procedures to reduce risks and improve compliance and productivity.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Drafts and/or reviews supply and service specifications.
  • Evaluates bids, ensuring compliance with departmental and company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assure direct reports have been adequately trained for their role.
  • Reviews and evaluates purchase request forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Works with Finance to resolve any delays or issues related to purchasing transactions.
  • Performs day-to-day purchasing activities as required
  • Distributes purchasing information to involved parties including vendors, sales representatives, and employees.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional departments and vendors to resolve issues related to Lab purchases.
  • Executes and approves transactions in SAP and Lab Vantage LIMS systems
  • Directs the daily workflow and schedules of the department, coordinating staff involved in purchasing, and distributing supplies, machinery, materials, or equipment
  • Supports purchasing team and analytical laboratory in determining inventory levels appropriate for the business needs.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Gathers, records, and completes purchase data.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.


Basic Qualifications


  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisor experience
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or business related field


Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times .
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • List any quality requirements applicable to role within your country
  • Follow all safety procedures in the laboratory areas.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target


Travel Requirements


  • May require travel up to 10% of time.


Physical & Mental Requirements


  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
  • Sedentary - exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met
