Nature Of Work
Performs advocacy work for the Orlando Police Department providing support to substance abuse overdose victims and their families. Responsibilities include responding to overdose scenes to ensure that children, families of victims, and overdose survivors are connected to social services; providing guidance through the legal system as needed, maintaining logs of all visits, and maintaining the confidentiality of investigative information. Organizes special projects aimed at promoting awareness and prevention of Opioid abuse. Work is performed at the direction of a Police Sergeant and is reviewed through conferences, observation, and results achieved.
WORK HOURS: Ability to work a flexible work schedule including weekends and evening hours as this position is responsible for maintaining a rotating on-call schedule, to include overnights and weekend hours: Primarily days, with core hours from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice Administration, Substance Abuse Counseling, or related field required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Work experience in a related field is highly preferred. A Valid Florida Driver’s License required. A police background check including a polygraph is required.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
