• Community developments - RCs create programs and activities designed to meet the needs of residents on the floor. As a community developer, RCs also hosts floor or building meetings, as well as have meaningful interactions with community residents and encourage community involvement.
• Policy enforcement/safety - RCs are attentive to resident safety and hall security, as well as ensure residents follow College housing policies to maintain a respectful environment. RCs educate residents on their actions and decisions while informing them about how their actions impact an entire community.
• Administrative tasks - RCs are required to complete weekly reports and programmatic paperwork, administer surveys and assist with check-ins and check-outs of residents.
• Facility managements - RCs works with other hall staff and peer mentors to ensure that there are no facility issues on their floor. RCs are required to complete room inventory checks and safety checks on a regular basis.
• Resources and educations - As a peer helper, RCs connect residents to other campus opportunities to promote a positive Campus Innovation experience.
• Emergency responses - RCs provides the primary response to emergencies within their hall. While each RCs will have designated duty nights, staff are expected to assist whenever they are in the building.

High school diploma required with at least one (1) year of related experience working in a residence hall type environment.

• Knows and utilizes available resources, including Residential Life and Housing staff, campus partners, and community resources
• Communicates clearly with students, supervisor, and campus partners through written, verbal, and nonverbal interactions
• Contributes to the success of the department by addressing individual and group needs
• Serves as a knowledgeable University and community resource and refer residents as appropriate
• Collaborates with peers through duty shifts, building wide programs, and other team initiatives

• Addresses community needs through the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual interactions and a variety of programmatic initiatives (social, educational, cultural, and recreational)
• Creates and maintains quality bulletin boards to educate and inform the community
• Establishes oneself as a leader among peers by developing and maintaining relationships with individual residents
• Responds to and mitigate conflict and crisis situations learning
• Understands, educates, and reinforces the Student Code of Conduct and Residential Life and Housing policies, and follow up with residents after incidents have occurred
• Prepares for and actively engage in in-person and online training sessions, area meetings, staff
• Empowers residents to build relationships with students, faculty, and staff throughout the campus community
• Promotes academic success outside of the classroom
• Thinkscritically about how to effectively handle a variety of situations
• Supports residents' development of skills related to civility, interpersonal dialogue, and responsible behaviors through addressing policy violations, mediating roommate conflicts, and promoting self-advocacy.
