Job Description

The Student Conduct Officer position for the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) is a full-time employment position reporting to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Manager . The Student Conduct Officer supports the mission of Student Affairs through the administration of university policy related to student behavior. With a focus on student development, the Student Conduct Officer supports fair process and the integrity of the University and serves the developmental needs of our student body.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains current knowledge of and implements changes based on university policies and procedures, laws, and best practices related to field.
  • Monitor and facilitate case related communication with all stakeholders.
  • Develop audience appropriate resources and workshops on academic integrity, discipline and student development, diversity and inclusion, the Student Community Standards process, classroom management and de-escalation, and dealing with disruptive behavior.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to processes and procedures surrounding University policy and student behavior.
  • Interpret and apply University policies related to student behavior for academic and non-academic matters and adjudicate or resolve an assigned caseload of students reported for suspected violations of policy.
  • Independently responsible for determining the appropriate resolution process conducive to student learning and development and consistent with university policy. This includes formal adjudication, informal mediation, restorative justice, and other forms of alternative conflict resolution.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate and organize student conduct cases through the creation, maintenance, and administration of confidential student conduct records within Advocate, including ensuring access and disclosure in compliance with university policy.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, interviews, appointments, and/or other similar activities with students; ensures students are aware of rights and responsibilities.
  • Provides support and advocacy for students while emphasizing individual accountability and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience with and commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Analyze and assess student learning and development related to student conduct and University policy and procedure.
  • Participates in professional development activities as appropriate and serve on internal workgroups including the Behavioral Intervention Team, and committees to address student behavior and support departmental functions and projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The successful candidate will possess an advanced degree and have a substantial record of professional accomplishment in serving in a Student Affairs capacity in a college or university. JD or master’s degree in educational administration, Student Affairs or a related area is required.
  • Demonstrate strong written grammar and oral communication fluency and ability to make presentations through various forms of media (i.e.: Streamed events, Webinar’s platforms, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Possess a minimum 5+ years of higher-education experience in Student Conduct/Judicial Affairs or a related capacity.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintain active membership/participation in national Professional organizations such as The Association for Student Conduct Administrators, the National Association of Behavioral Intervention Teams, or other such professional training organizations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use a telephone and computer. The employee may frequently interact with fellow employees and/or clients. The requirements of this job may be completed with or without reasonable accommodation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to work in an office environment, where the noise level is usually moderate to loud.

RATE OF PAY:

$62,000 - $72,000 annually
