Summit Design and Engineering is seeking Structural Engineer. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of structural design experience. This Engineer will work with our Structural team based in Raleigh.

Responsibilities

• Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specification and construction and safety standards
• Works collaboratively with other departments
• Establishes and maintains client relationships
• Manages structural projects, along with the complete design of building systems in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
• Assists in proposal generation and fee estimates
• Takes projects from inception to closeout, including preparing project specific construction specification and construction administration. This includes creating detailed designs, models and drawings for structures used in preliminary schematics, design development, construction and record documents
• Prepares opinions of costs and written reports

Skills And Qualifications

• Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
• Experience with Building Structural Engineering AutoCAD and REVIT software
• Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
• Experience with structural analysis software such as RAM Steel, RAM Elements and ENERCALC
• Knowledge of building codes
• Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials, steel, concrete, masonry and timber design desired
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to adhere to all deadlines, budgets and contractual obligations of each project
• PE Licensure in NC or able to obtain one within six (6) months of hire
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to collaborate
• 7+ years of experience preferably in Structural Engineering
• Ability to drive, visit job sites and walk on rough and uneven terrain, climb and balance (on a ladder), and enter a crawlspace as needed
• Ability to crates, read and interpret structural calculations and construction drawings
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
