Job Description

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Reports to:

  • School Board
  • Head of School
  • Secondary Principal
  • Activities Director

Position Summary:

  • The Strength and Conditioning Coach provides training in the area of strength and conditioning for all students/athletes.

Required Qualifications:

  • NFHS concussion certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
  • VIRTUS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
  • A valid strength and conditioning certification: CSCS, USAW, or comparable certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • K-12 Athletic Coach endorsement
  • Bachelor's degree in physical education, kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise science or relevant subject
  • 5-12 Physical Education teaching endorsement

Responsibilities:

  • Keep record of regularly scheduled student testing data.
  • Communicate with head coaches and administrative staff promptly.
  • Administer an approved, year-round, comprehensive strength and conditioning program.
  • Keep daily attendance records.
  • Provide athletes with guidance and proper training techniques.
  • Maintain the weight room and keep inventory of all equipment.
  • Work in collaboration with the physical education department (if applicable) to design a program on the principles of: explosive power, strength, lateral/linear speed, and functional mobility/stability.
  • Schedule strength and conditioning workouts in cooperation with head coaches or administrative staff.
  • Update the administrative staff on equipment needs or upgrades.
  • Adjust individual workouts according to the specific needs of the student/athlete.
  • Maintain acceptable certification(s).
  • Be present and punctual for all workouts.
  • Be available for pre‐season parent meetings.
