As innovation continues to adapt Starbucks to changing customer behaviors, it is becoming increasingly important to bring a total-market lens to strategic planning efforts. The Market Planning Manager position plays a crucial role in understanding potential network impacts of new innovation and partnering cross-functionally to adapt new and existing store plans to optimize the portfolio.


Successful candidates are self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and have a growth mindset. The role requires strong analytical capabilities across financial, real estate, and macro-economic domains to synthesize actionable insights that inform the collective plan.


As a market planner, you will…


  • Support planning and deployment of key Starbucks strategies across real estate, trade area optimization, new store growth, store relocations and store concept optimization.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through ambiguity by integrating data, cross-functional expertise, and prior learnings to navigate constantly changing market dynamics.
  • Contribute to the creation, development, and prioritization of growth strategies, plans, and goals.
  • Utilize data to guide Starbucks leaders in crucial network optimization and store format decisions.
  • Provide research, quantitative analysis, and modeling to analyze impact of innovation on current plans and performance.
  • Research and develop strategic recommendations to create critical value to clients, markets, business units and the company.


We’d love to Hear From People With


  • Experience in statistics, modeling, business intelligence and spatial analytics.
  • Financial and business acumen: Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results; proficiency in retail math
  • Presentation skills: Effective in a variety of presentation settings including one-on-one, small and large groups, and with peers and managers.
  • Collaboration skills: Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners
  • MBA or other master’s degree
  • Systems and tools acumen: Proficiency in Alteryx, Tableau and geospatial software, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and aptitude to learn technical applications quickly
  • Analytic skills: Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Influencing & negotiation skills: Can present ideas and directions that lead others to action

The pay range for this position may be narrower than that displayed, depending on where the work is performed
