Job Description
The Staff Pad is partnering with a healthcare solutions company that is seeking a Sterile Processing Operating Room Liaison in Cook County, Chicago IL


We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Sterile Processing Operating Room Liaison to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between the sterile processing department and operating room teams in Cook County, Chicago. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability of properly processed and sterilized instruments and equipment for surgical procedures, thereby contributing to the efficient and safe delivery of patient care.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Communicate effectively with sterile processing and OR teams to address any immediate instrument needs or issues during surgeries.
  • Participate in training and education programs for OR staff regarding proper instrument handling and processing procedures.
  • Collaborate with OR personnel to identify instrument requirements, ensuring timely availability for scheduled procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of instrument usage, sterilization cycles, and inventory levels.
  • Act as a liaison between the sterile processing department and the operating room (OR) staff to coordinate instrument needs for surgical cases.
  • Transport sterile instruments and equipment between the sterile processing department and the OR, following established protocols.
  • Contribute to infection control efforts by adhering to proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization protocols.
  • Monitor instrument usage during procedures and assist with replenishing sterile supplies as needed.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of instrument trays and equipment in the OR, adhering to sterile techniques.


Requirements


Qualifications and Experience:


  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Sterile Processing Certification is necessary
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience in sterile processing or operating room support.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Familiarity with surgical instruments, sterilization methods, and infection prevention practices.
