About us:

Epitor Therapeutics is an epigenetic editing company focused on developing novel tools to regulate gene expression that is under epigenetic control.Based in New York City, and with technology developed by Dr. Shawn Liu of Columbia University, the company focuses on further advancing these novel tools to control gene expression to treat diseases with high unmet needs.We are seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals to join our team and help drive early-stage development.

The position:

We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Scientist/Senior Scientist to develop CRISPR genome/epigenome editors using in vivo and in vitro models and apply them towards treatments of neurodegenerative conditions.

You would have opportunities to work on exciting projects that include:

  • Develop assays to understand global activity of epigenome editors
  • Develop treatments for genetic disorders basing on cutting-edge gene therapy technology

Responsibilities

  • Analyze experimental outcomes and develop high-quality summaries towards manuscripts and pre-IND
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, data, and results
  • Scientific presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Communicate results effectively to team members and stakeholders
  • Design, execute and optimize protocols

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology or related biomedical science field (neuroscience experience preferred)
  • Strong desire to work collaboratively within a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team environment
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Uses teamwork to work cooperatively toward the most effective solutions, championing the best ideas of team members, and assisting where help is needed yet is capable of highly independent work when efficiency is required
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, allowing for an open and effective dialogue throughout the company
  • Interest and experience mentoring junior scientists
  • Strong technical proficiency in key biochemistry/molecular biology techniques, including: cloning, ELISA, Western analysis, flow cytometry
  • Exceptionally self-motivated and scientifically curious
  • Hands-on experience with NGS-based workflows
  • A proven track record with CRISPR-based genomic and epigenetic editing work
  • Experience with AAV or Lentiviral production

Minimum Experience

  • 6 years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree
  • 2 years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD

*Title and compensation are commensurate with experience.

Nice to Have:

  • 2+ years of Startup/Biotech/Pharma experience in protein engineering or assay development.
  • Hands-on experience with in vivo models and/or iPSC models.
  • Experience in either directed evolution or phage/yeast/mammalian or related display technologies
  • You are a “hybrid” scientist with computational experience or experience collaborating closely with computational scientists
